Music is a key part of my identity. I love music of all kinds—from classical to pop—and I usually go beyond simply consuming music to instead interpreting, analyzing, and digging deeper with each musical piece I listen to. Also, my love of music is further strengthened by my playing the piano and my participation in my high school and college choral groups.

Singing

I have enjoyed signing right from the first time I participated in an organized choir in elementary school. In high school, I was a member of my school’s chorus and and my church’s choir. Currently, I am a member of the Cornell Glee Club, which is set to perform in Montreal, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. in January 2024.

Piano Playing

I have played the piano since I was six years old. My favorite aspect of playing the piano is the interpretive control that playing the piano gives me.

Musical Analysis

I love analyzing music. Whether it’s casually mentally breaking down the artistic choices in a piece of music or diligently working though the chord progressions in a classical hymn for a music theory assignment, I love digging into why a piece of music sounds the way it does.

My fascination with musical analysis reached the next level when I took AP music theory during my sophomore year, and I don’t intend on letting my personal commitment to understand music waver anytime soon!
